The region is known for its museums, concerts, festivals and historical re-enactments. Events run throughout the year. A growing number of tourists come from all over Italy for events staged in the region. We have brought together a selection of events and places to visit. Museums, events and festivals selected for you
- The House of D’Annunzio:
Corso Manthoné, Pescara. The House of D’Annunzio. In the old city, the house where the celebrated poet Gabriele D’Annuzio lived has been a national monument since 1927 and is one of the most popular visits in Pescara. Nine room with paintings and prints, as well as a regular programme of events during the year. - Cascella Museum:
A collection of more than 500 pictures, sculptures, illustrations and ceramics collected by one family. It includes many masterpieces. More information on the Pescara tourist information website. - Museum of the People of Abruzzo:
An exhibition of historic costume from Abruzzo, regional arts and crafts, including ceramics from Castelli, domestic objects and farming tools. The museum takes us from pre-historic times, to early Italian objects – including a bronze helmet, and a collection of Roman artefacts. Regular events during the year. - International “Ennio Flaiano” Festival:
June and July sees this festival that involves cinema, theatre, literature, and a TV show. More information from the official website Premi Flaiano. - Festival of Sant’Andrea:
On the last Sunday of July this procession takes place by the sea. There are fireworks over the marina, a parade of the statue of the saint, and a sea flotilla. - Pescara Jazz Festival:
During July, this festival brings together international jazz players with concerts and events in venues throughout the city. For a programme and to buy tickets see the Pescara Jazz website. - St Sulmona:
In the days leading up to Easter, the city of Sulmona in the National Park of the Maiella celebrates their patron saint with a series of prayers, vigils and spectacles. This is an important date in the religious calendar.
